My name is Nancy Thompson.

I grew up in Springwood, Ohio - on Elm Street. My parents divorced when I was young, but it was for the better, since they never seemed to get along anyways. Then, when I was fifteen, everything changed. My friends and I started having terrible nightmares about a man. But they weren't normal nightmares... they were real. What happened in our dreams, happened in real life.

But no one believed me.

The man from my nightmares - I won't name him - murdered my friends, Rod and Tina; my boyfriend, Glen; and my mother. My father knew the truth but refused to believe it. When I stuck to my story, he sent me to a psychiatric hospital to 'get better'. After three years, I was finally released [once I convinced the doctors that I was 'cured'] and started attending Ohio University. I'm currently studying psychology, focusing on the phenomenon of dreams and nightmares.

My life is finally starting to feel normal again - as normal as it can be. But I'm not sure how long this will last.
